<BGSOUND src="commercial.wav"> Listen to the radio, watch TV, or browse a website for any length of time and two phrases will undoubtedly be present, Going Green and recession. These two things pertain not only to the entire country, but very specifically to Chevron. Their importance in the eyes of the U.S. population cannot be underestimated.

Chevron has fallen under fire for environmentally damaging acts in the past, and recent social trends and government regulations have magnified these issues and threatened the profitability and integrity of the country. In order to combat this, Chevron will look to increase its public relations efforts through commercials and other programs highlighting its environmental efforts. Chevron will look to sponsor events that encourage reform and community involvement.

Like I stated before the main challenge with Chevron is the ability to stay one step ahead of technology, all the time. The battery powered lawn mower is something that is at the trial stage currently but I think that in the near future all of us will own a battery powered lawn mower. Hybrids are coming out as well and more and more car engineers are finding new ways to make their cars more environmentally friendly. Ever since Al Gore figured out the greenhouse effect, the whole world has made strong efforts to become more “green”. Even during a lot of Barack Obama’s campaigning he stated that he wanted to put more money into research for alternate sources of gas and oil. With our President of the United States wanting that, it’s hard for a company like Chevron to think that the oil sales will be the same in the next 5 years. Even though gas is still used a lot and will still be used in the future, this is a challenge that Chevron must face and think about.
